Official Rules for Cupcake Eating Contest
- Each contestant acknowledges he or she is voluntarily entering the contest as a fundraiser for Just Food.
- To participate, each contestant must pay an entrance fee prior to the start of the contest. The fee ranges in price from $10-$30, depending on what prize is awarded for that round.
- The contest will have three rounds. Each round will have its own guidelines and prize. Contestants may only enter 1 round.
- The first round must have a minimum of 5 contestants and will have a maximum of 16 contestants. The entrance fee is $10 per person, payable online via paypal or in person at Cupcake Construction Company. The prize will be a floral arrangement from Englewood Florist, valued at $50. Each contestant will be given 4 standard-size cupcakes – 2 vanilla and 2 chocolate. Each will be frosted with vanilla buttercream icing. Contestants will be timed, and whoever finishes all four cupcakes the fastest will be awarded the prize. If more than 8 people enter the contest, they will be split up into 2 heats. The winner will be whoever had the quickest time between both heats.
- The second round must have a minimum of 5 contestants and will have a maximum of 16 contestants. The entrance fee is $20 per person, payable online via paypal or in person at Cupcake Construction Company. The prize will be a gift certificate to Pachamama’s Restaurant, valued at $75, and a Passport to Liberty Hall, valued at $18. Each contestant will be given 6 standard-size cupcakes – 3 vanilla and 3 chocolate. Each will be frosted with vanilla buttercream icing. Contestants will be timed, and whoever finishes all six cupcakes the fastest will be awarded the prize. If more than 8 people enter the contest, they will be split up into 2 heats. The winner will be whoever had the quickest time between both heats.
- The third and final round must have a minimum of 5 contestants and will have a maximum of 20 contestants. The entrance fee is $30 per person, payable online via paypal or in person at Cupcake Construction Company. The prize will be a pair of sterling silver and diamond heart earrings from Mark’s Jewelers, valued at $200. Each contestant will have five minutes to eat as many standard size cupcakes as possible. Vanilla and chocolate cakes, both with vanilla buttercream icing, will be on the table for the contestants. Cupcake Construction Company staff will count the number of cupcakes each contestant completes. If more than 8 people enter the contest, they will be split up into multiple heats. The winner will be whoever consumes the most cupcakes between all the heats. If any contestant “refunds” their cupcakes within five minutes of completion, they are disqualified from the contest, and not eligible for the prize.
- In the event that the minimum number of contestants is not reached on any round, the contestants will get their entry fee refunded to them, and they will NOT be eligible for the prize.
- For all three rounds, each contestant will be given glasses of water to drink with the cupcakes.
- For all three rounds, all cupcakes will have their paper wrappers on them. It is the responsibility of each contestant to peel off the wrappers.
- Cupcakes must be eaten ONE AT A TIME! The entire cupcake must be eaten to count toward the total. This includes all icing and all cake. Cupcake Construction Company staff will have final say if the cupcake counts as complete or not.
- Cupcake Construction Company is not responsible for any injury incurred at the contest, either directly or indirectly.
- Ultimately, this is a friendly competition to raise funds for Just Food Food Bank. Please have fun and enjoy yourself.
